The West Coast Wilderness Railway (WCWR) is based on the West Coast of Tasmania with offices and workshop in Queenstown. WCWR operates heritage tourist trains, complemented by retail and food and beverage operations.

The Role:

The infrastructure maintenance team carries out maintenance activities that include inspection, repair, refurbishment and overhaul of the WCWR infrastructure assets to ensure availability and reliability of WCWR train services.

The infrastructure maintainer is a hands-on role carrying out maintenance and inspections of WCWR's track, turnouts, level crossings, bridges and culverts as directed.

Key Responsibilities include:

·       Performing preventative and reactive maintenance on rail infrastructure

·       Operating and maintaining track machinery and tools safely and efficiently

·       Conducting inspections, repairs, and upgrades to ensure safe train operations

About you:

·       Experienced in rail or civil maintenance

·       Strong work ethic and ability to work outdoors in varied conditions

·       Willingness to learn and grow within a supportive team environment

·       Medically fit for the task (pass category 3 rail medical)

·       Able to meet the requirements of the zero drug and alcohol policy (random and as part of medical)

Qualifications:

·       Car licence

Desirable:

  • Class MR driver's licence
  • Forklift licence
  • Certificate 2 in Rail Infrastructure
