Boatshed Number One and FreeSpirit Cruises are leading tourism operators in Forster, NSW. We run a wide variety of on-water experiences, including:
- Scheduled sightseeing and lunch/dinner cruises
- Private charters and functions
- Boat hire services
- Whale watching (seasonal)

The Role
We are seeking an experienced Coxswain Manager / Skipper to lead our day-to-day cruise and boat hire operations. This is a full-time, salaried position that combines vessel handling, crew leadership, and operational management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Safely skippering vessels for scheduled cruises, charters, and whale watching tours
- Overseeing boat hire operations and ensuring compliance with hire procedures
- Managing and training crew and casual staff
- Ensuring vessels, safety equipment, and documentation comply with AMSA and survey requirements
- Coordinating schedules, maintenance, and safety checks with management
- Delivering commentary and excellent customer service on passenger cruises
- Acting as the senior point of contact for guests, staff, and operations
What We're Looking For
- Coxswain Grade 1 NC (minimum) – Essential
- Strong vessel handling skills (experience in tourism/charter operations desirable)
- Leadership skills with the ability to train, mentor, and manage staff
- A customer-first attitude with excellent communication and presentation skills
- Organised and detail-focused with compliance and safety at the forefront
- Ability to be flexible in a dynamic tourism environment
