WHO ARE WE?

The Rev. Bill Crews Foundation is one of Sydney's largest frontline charities and has been operating for almost 40 years.

Our mission is to provide assistance to address the cause and effect of homelessness and poverty, faced by marginalised individuals. We succeed in achieving this through a combination of caring services like food provision, social welfare and education support.

Our site in Ashfield houses the 'Loaves and Fishes Restaurant', which serves the disadvantaged with free meals, seven days each week. We have a small fleet of mobile food vans that serve meals at 12 locations across Sydney.

THE ROLE

As the needs of disadvantaged members in our community continue to grow, the demand for our Food Van services is increasing. To support our Food Services program, we're looking for a Casual Driver to join our team. Shifts average 6 hours and are scheduled between 7 AM and 10 PM, with a particular need for people available in the evenings (8–10 PM) and on weekends.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Reporting to the Food Services Team Leader, you'll play a hands-on role in delivering meals and support to those who need it most. Your responsibilities include:
• Driving the food van to assigned locations on a rotating monthly roster.
• Setting up, serving, and plating meals while ensuring smooth food service operations.
• Managing stock, tracking supplies, and handling routine van maintenance (cleaning and refuelling).
• Keeping accurate records, including mileage and fuel usage.
• Guiding and supporting volunteers on food runs.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You'll bring a mix of reliability, compassion, and practical skills to the role. To be considered, you'll need:

• A valid Class C driver's license and current driving history (or willingness to obtain).
• Confidence driving Mercedes Sprinters or similar-sized vehicles.
• A Basic Food Safety Certificate (or willingness to obtain) and safe food handling knowledge.
• Strong time management, efficiency, and a reliable work ethic.
• Flexibility to work varied hours, especially evenings (8–10 PM) and weekends/holidays.
