About the role
As an Operations Manager for our Northern Region at the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR), you'll oversee the delivery of compliance monitoring and enforcement operations across a dynamic and expanding jurisdiction. You'll play a key role in shaping the safety and performance of Australia's heavy vehicle industry by leading a regional team, building strong cross-sector partnerships, and providing strategic input that influences national transport regulation.
This is a rare opportunity to bring together leadership, operational insight, and regulatory impact in a role that directly contributes to safer roads and a more efficient transport network. This position can be based in Townsville, Brisbane, Ipswich, Toowoomba, Rockhampton, Mackay or Cairns.
Key responsibilities of this role are:
- Lead and deliver operational compliance and enforcement programs across jurisdictions
- Build key partnerships with government agencies and industry
- Provide expert guidance to senior executives and the NHVR Board
- Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
- Lead, mentor and support a regional team to achieve real outcomes

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as the national entity responsible for regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. The NHVR minimises the compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistences across state and territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.
We are headquartered in Brisbane and employ more than 1000 people across the ACT, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria.
