Companion for elderly man

I am looking for a kind, smart, reliable, engaging and mature companion to spend time with my 94-year-old dad who is living in a nursing home. We are looking for someone 2 - 3 times per week (3 hours per visit), ideally between 1pm and 5pm.

About the role:

• Provide companionship and conversation.
• Take him out for a coffee, to a movie, for a walk around the neighbourhood (in his wheelchair), or for a scenic drive.
• Take him to the occasional medical appointment.
• Support him to enjoy social outings and light activities.
• Help me keep an eye on his general health and needs, and send me a message after each visit to keep me updated.

Requirements:

• Friendly, imaginative, patient, and a good conversationalist.
• Fluent English is essential, as clear and enjoyable conversation is an important part of the role.
• Own car preferred – needs to fit a fold-up wheelchair in the back.
• Responsible and trustworthy.

Details:

• $45 per hour.
• Petrol and social activity costs (coffee, tickets, etc.) will be covered.
• Location: Ainslie, ACT
