Opportunity

We believe in empowering and enabling Mentors to be the decision makers and design their program delivery with the ultimate purpose of building proud young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls with good spirit.

The Mentor roles focuses on program delivery and assisting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls between the ages of 10-18 years, as well as supporting the Deadly Sista Girlz Coordinator in program-related requirements.

About you:

To be suitable for this role you will need to demonstrate the following work-related requirements and experience:

  • Have established connections to the local Aboriginal community
  • Passion for helping Aboriginal youth, with the ability to provide mentoring and assistance to youth with a range of complex and varied needs
  • Have the ability to work with youth of different ages
  • Demonstrate organisational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised and within a small team
  • Be disciplined and honest
  • Have high-level communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Commitment to program processes including administration and evaluation
  • Be pro-active and have the ability to show initiative
  • Sound knowledge of general office procedures

The roles are casual positions working during the School Term with some flexibility required to meet the needs of the program and participants.

Additional requirements include holding or the ability to obtain:

  • 'C' class driver's licence valid
  • Working With Children Check
  • Education Department clearance
