What you'll be doing

As an Emergency Clerk, you'll play a critical role in the smooth operation of the Emergency Department by managing patient registrations, admissions, and essential administrative tasks. This position requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Register and update patient details accurately in hospital systems
  • Complete admission paperwork and guide patients on financial classifications
  • Handle cash transactions and maintain compliance with cash handling procedures
  • Liaise with clinical staff, interpreters, and transport services to coordinate care
  • Train new staff and maintain compliance with mandatory education requirements

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated extensive exceptional front-line customer service skills in a medical or hospital environment with ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and data entry skills with the knowledge and use of IT applications including Microsoft Office and hospital based information systems (iPM, FirstNet, Cerner, Powerchart).
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills, high level verbal and written communication skills.
  • An ability to work as an effective and efficient team member demonstrating initiative, judgement and contributing positively to team operations.
  • Ability to work autonomously and actively participate within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise work.
  • Demonstrated ability to work a 24/7 rotating roster.
