Cheese maker

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our multi-award winning cheese manufacturing operation as a Cheese Maker.

The position will play a key role in the making, maturation and packing of artisan cheese, 15 minutes from Hobart CBD in the renowned Coal River Valley Wine Region.

Coal River Farm is a leading food manufacturer with eight retail stores throughout Australia, a thriving wholesale business and a focus on traditional, hands-on techniques.

The cheese operation forms a key part of Coal River Farm along with other artisan activities onsite (chocolate, wine, restaurant).

Reporting to the Head Cheesemaker you will be a key team member assisting in all areas of cheese manufacturing. This is a hands-on role that combines the need for an excellent eye for detail and a willingness to get your hands dirty and get the job done.

Joining a small and passionate team you will play a key role in maintaining our high quality while being part of the next stage of growth.

The successful candidate will have:

• Passion for artisan cheese and working in a team
• Physically ability to undertake heavy lifting
• Previous experience making cheese
• Practical food handling and hygiene knowledge.

Candidates will also preferably posses qualifications in food production or food science.

Forklift licence and experience would be an advantage.
