About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Painter / Packer to join our production team in Dandenong, Victoria. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for preparing, painting, and packing structural steel components to required quality and safety standards. The role also provides support across blasting, dispatch, and yard operations, ensuring products are completed on time and to specification. This position suits someone with painting/blasting trade skills or equivalent experience, a strong safety focus, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces and apply protective coatings in line with job specifications and quality standards.
- Operate blasting and painting equipment safely and efficiently.
- Wrap, pack, and prepare steel products for dispatch, ensuring accurate labelling and secure loading.
- Move steel products in and out of paint/blast bays using overhead cranes and forklifts (where licensed).
- Assist with loading/unloading trucks and general yard/dispatch duties.
- Complete required quality checks and record incoming/outgoing goods.
- Maintain stock levels of paint, blast materials, and consumables.
- Perform daily equipment checks and report faults promptly.
Contribute to housekeeping and safe work practices across workshop, yard, and paint areas.
Skills and Experience
- Trade qualification in painting/blasting or equivalent industry experience.
- Current forklift licence and driver's licence (essential).
- Ability to safely operate overhead cranes (licensed).
- Knowledge of blasting, coating techniques, and relevant safety procedures.
- Physically fit with strong coordination and manual handling ability.
- Positive and motivated attitude with strong organisational skills.
Previous experience in yard, dispatch or warehousing (desirable).
