Kitchen Attendant / Dishwasher
Location: Mad Shak's Café, Dandenong South
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Kitchen Attendant/Dishwasher to join the Mad Shak's team. Our café is dedicated to serving quality, fresh food and coffee, and we are looking for someone who takes pride in supporting the smooth running of our kitchen.
Purpose of the Role
As a Kitchen Attendant, you play a vital role in keeping our kitchen running efficiently. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, ensuring all crockery, utensils, and work areas are spotless and ready for service. You will also assist the kitchen team with basic food preparation and general support to help deliver an excellent dining experience for our guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash and sanitise crockery, cutlery, glassware, and kitchen equipment using commercial dishwashers and manual cleaning methods.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors and surfaces through regular rubbish removal, sweeping, and mopping.
- Correctly use cleaning chemicals in line with safety guidelines.
- Assist chefs with basic food preparation (e.g., peeling, chopping, grating, preparing batters, garnishes, and seasonings).
- Support the smooth running of a busy commercial kitchen.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safe work practices at all times.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a kitchen or cleaning role is an advantage, but not essential.
- Enthusiastic, positive, and motivated with a strong "can-do" attitude.
- Able to work well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Available Monday to Friday between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Casual
Pay: $24.95 – $31.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
