Job Details
Babylon Data is seeking a Senior Windows Desktop Engineer to deliver high-quality, secure end-user computing capabilities in support of a major federal department's digital transformation agenda. This role sits within a forward-leaning CIO Division driving modern digital services for a resilient and competitive Australian economy.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineer and support Microsoft Windows SOE and device configurations (desktop and mobile)
- Maintain and optimise M365 Apps, Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, and remote access technologies
- Design and deploy Group Policy, Intune profiles, and MECM-based solutions for patching and application packaging
- Provide Level 3 technical support for escalated incidents and major issues
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and service desk teams to ensure seamless integration
- Contribute to governance forums and represent end-user compute services
- Develop SOPs, technical documentation, and knowledge articles
- Lead or contribute to projects including upgrades, transitions, and platform enhancements
- Identify opportunities for automation and continuous improvement in desktop management
Essential Criteria
- Knowledge of
Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise
(M365 Pro Plus) including servicing, update channels, and licensing - Expert-level experience with
Windows 11, Intune, and Group Policy
(including AGPM) - Proficiency in
Intune-based MDM/MAM
policy management - Skilled in
MECM/SCCM
, including SOE management, patching, and application packaging - Demonstrated experience writing
technical documentation
, including SOPs and architectural artefacts
Desirable Criteria
- Experience with
Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) - Understanding of Australian Government
Cyber Security frameworks
, including ISM, Essential Eight, and ACSC hardening guides
Working Arrangements
The role is based onsite in Canberra. It supports a nationally significant digital capability environment and requires in-person collaboration within a secure ICT operations setting.
