About the role

Verso Projects is seeking a talented Accountant to join our team in our Brisbane office. This full-time role is responsible for providing comprehensive accounting and financial reporting services across our diverse portfolio of property development and investment projects.

What you'll be doing

  1. Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheets and cash flow statements
  2. Reconcile bank accounts, accounts receivable and accounts payable
  3. Maintain and update the general ledger and chart of accounts
  4. Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts
  5. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to provide financial information and analysis
  6. Contribute to ongoing process improvements and the implementation of new accounting systems and controls
  7. Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax obligations and statutory reporting requirements
  8. Support the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in managing the financial operations of Verso Projects and Verso Construction.
  9. Assist in implementing financial systems and controls, contribute to financial analysis, and provide timely data to support decision-making.

This role plays a key part in ensuring the integrity of financial information and supporting the CFO in achieving strategic financial goals.

What we're looking for

  1. Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Commerce
  2. CPA or CA qualification
  3. Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a similar accounting role, preferably within the property or construction industry
  4. Strong technical accounting skills and expert knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards
  5. Proficient in the use of accounting software such as MYOB, Xero or QuickBooks
  6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  7. Outstanding attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines
  8. Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
