LOCATION: Barapa Barapa Country across Gannawarra and Loddon Shires EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full Time or Part Time until 2028.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Ranger will be part of a dedicated team responsible for managing Barapa Barapa Country. This includes the operational delivery of various natural resource management (NRM) and Aboriginal Cultural Heritage works. The role involves hands-on work in the field and will require a strong commitment to the protection and preservation of Aboriginal Culturally significant areas and the environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


•       Actively participate in all Ranger's duties to ensure the project delivery as directed by the Ranger Coordinator and ensure they are carried out safely, efficiently and effectively.


•       Support the implementation of natural resource management projects, including pest plant and animal control, revegetation and other related tasks as directed.


•       Demonstrate the ability to listen carefully, follow instructions, understand and comply with Barapa Ltd policies and procedures.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:


•       Comply with Barapa Ltd Policies and Procedures, Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) guidelines, and relevant Victorian WorkSafe legislation.


•       Have an understanding of Aboriginal Cultural Heritage.


•       Knowledge of Barapa Barapa Country and its significance is essential.


•       Actively participate in weekly planning and reporting meetings.


•       Attend all mandatory meetings, training sessions and workshops relevant to the role.


KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:


•       Commitment to working on the Country to promote the Barapa Barapa Country Plan.


•       A strong commitment to personal learning and development and attendance at relevant training and education opportunities.


•       A strong level of communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.


•       Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and Equal Opportunity principles, with a commitment to following Barapa Ltd policies and systems in the delivery of work projects.


•       Experience working with Aboriginal communities, with demonstrated ability to communicate and engage sensitively and effectively with Traditional Owner-led communities and organisations.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:


•       A National Police Check must be conducted or completed within the first three months.


•       A valid Victorian Driver's License is required, as regional and state travel for work-related purposes is part of the role.


•       Proficiency in the use of computers, telecommunications technology and mapping/reporting frameworks is desirable.


•       Successful completion of reference checks.


•       A request for probity checks does not guarantee an offer of employment.
