Your role as a OH&S Manager

We are looking for a seasoned Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) expert with experience in logistics or supply chain environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of our Occupational Health & Safety Management System, ensuring compliance, governance, and a proactive safety culture across all operations.

  • Embed safety governance and foster a proactive safety culture throughout operations, including those involving robotics, cold storage, heavy plant, and high-voltage systems.
  • Promote a positive work culture and serve as a role model for safety leadership.
  • Develop and manage the Health and Safety Management Plan.
  • Provide strategic and operational OH&S advice, mentoring the leadership team on their obligations and duties.
  • Manage site incident records, induction documentation and operational records.
  • Oversee workplace injury rehabilitation and compensation programs, including management of Workers Compensation claims and leading post-incident investigations for continuous improvement.
  • Lead the ongoing development and implementation of the Safety Management System.
  • Maintain and update Emergency Response Plans for all sites, conduct annual drills, and ensure preparedness for critical incidents.
  • Ensure high levels of compliance with relevant state OH&S legislation.
  • Maintain compliance with Chain of Responsibility legislation and procedures.
  • Liaise with NewCold Global OH&S teams to promote alignment and best practice across sites.
  • Audit, analyse, and collate OH&S performance data, reporting findings to management and regulatory bodies.
  • Manage a Health Safety and Environment Coordinator and work collaboratively within the QESH team.
  • Ensure consistent and accurate reporting of OH&S matters to senior management, maintain audit documentation and liaise with regulators, auditors, and customers to uphold confidence in safety systems.
  • Act as the local technical expert for crisis event management, coordinate the Risk/Crisis Management Team, and oversee the Crisis Management Plan.
  • Provide strategic OH&S input for new site developments and expansions, ensuring safety is considered throughout planning and execution phases.
  • Develop and manage positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and industry stakeholder groups.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Strong knowledge of OH&S regulations, legislation, and codes
  • Excellent leadership, influencing, and problem-solving abilities, with a mindset focused on continuous improvement
  • Capability to lead responses to rapidly changing environments and incidents
  • Experience in Working at Heights management (preferred)
  • Advanced computer skills, with proficiency in analytics and management reporting
  • Experience in Workcover and Return to Work (RTW) management
  • Highly articulate, with an engaging and consultative communication style
