Engineering Manager

Propel Ventures is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead our engineering teams dedicated to delivering the Tinybeans (ASX: TNY) product. Tinybeans is a leading private photo sharing platform that connects families and transforms moments into lasting memories. The role

As Engineering Manager, you will be the accountable owner of the Tinybeans platform, ensuring it is robust, private, secure and cost effective. You will lead infrastructure and app store operations, drive proactive monitoring and DR planning, and provide architectural guidance so product teams can deliver features with speed and confidence.

You will partner closely with product, data and growth teams, offering technical leadership that accelerates delivery. This is a hands-on role in a small but ambitious company. You will set the guardrails, own key technical decisions and step in where needed while empowering the team to deliver.

The responsibilities

• Strategic initiatives:
  Drive technical projects that enable business growth such as data pipeline stability, analytics stack improvements, third-party integrations and pilots.
• Product partnership:
  Work with product leaders to shape and prioritise the future roadmap, ensuring technical feasibility and scalability are embedded in planning.
• Architecture and technical guidance:
  Provide architectural input into feature planning and delivery. Set technical standards and review designs to ensure scalability and maintainability.
• Reliability and uptime:
  Own SLAs for platform and app availability. Lead incident response, monitoring and DR planning.
• Performance and scalability:
  Ensure systems scale predictably and cost effectively with clear resilience measures.
• Security and compliance:
  Own platform security and privacy compliance (GDPR, COPPA, SOC2/ISO as relevant). Lead audits and risk assessments, partnering with legal.
• Platform costs and vendor management:
  Manage AWS architecture, spend and governance. Maintain relationships with platform partners.
• App store operations:
  Oversee iOS and Android app store submissions, approvals and compliance. Ensure smooth releases and feature parity.
• Team leadership:
  Support and mentor engineers. Foster a culture of ownership, accountability and technical excellence.

The requirements

• Proven success as Engineering Manager, Head of Engineering, or similar in a B2C SaaS or mobile app business.
• Hands on expertise in AWS infrastructure including cost management, monitoring and resilience.
• Strong track record in platform security and compliance (GDPR, COPPA, SOC2/ISO).
• Experience managing app store accounts, app submissions and operations for iOS and Android.
• Architectural depth to guide feature delivery with scalable, maintainable design choices.
• Ability to balance hands on problem solving with setting direction and standards.
• Clear communicator who can translate technical priorities into business impact.
• Evidence of building engineering practices that improved reliability, transparency and speed
