What you'll be doing

As a Wardsperson, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care and support services throughout the hospital. You'll assist in patient transport, care activities and general support duties that ensure smooth and safe hospital operations.

  • Assist nursing staff with patient mobility, hygiene and comfort
  • Safely transport patients, equipment and supplies across hospital areas
  • Deliver excellent customer service to patients, staff and visitors
  • Operate equipment safely and follow all WHS and infection control guidelines
  • Contribute to a positive workplace culture and ongoing quality improvements

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience as a wardsperson or in a patient care role within an acute care setting
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, with effective time management and prioritisation skills
  • Good knowledge of Infection Control and, Work Health and Safety standards and procedures, with a particular focus on clinical manual handling
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member, supporting other and taking directions from team leaders, supervisors and other staff as required.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to communicate respectfully to line management, colleagues, patients and visitors.
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the position, which includes pushing patient occupied beds, lifting patients using relevant equipment and mobilising wheeled equipment.
  • Ability and willingness to work a 24 hr/ 7 day per week rotating roster across Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospital, which includes weekends and public holidays.
