Senior Software Engineer

SelfWealth by Syfe is in a growth phase, building a modern platform for investors and advisers. We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer (Python) to build secure, reliable backend services on AWS for our B2B integrations (permanent and full-time basis).

What you'll do

• Build backend services in Python: Design and implement serverless services on AWS (Lambda/Step Functions) with clean interfaces, typed domain models, and robust error handling.
• Evolve the platform: Build and extend our multi-source, multi-target platform, across multiple 3rd parties and vendors.
• Operate with confidence: Drive observability (metrics, tracing, alerts), robust error handling and retries, runbooks, and a bias to automate.
• Collaborate for excellence: Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and architectural decisions; work closely with product owners, QA, and partner engineers.
• Raise the bar: Contribute reusable libraries, patterns, and CI/CD workflows; review designs and code to keep the codebase simple and reliable.

What you'll bring

• Bring strong Python Software Engineering & AWS Lambda expertise
• Solid engineering and design fundamentals that transfer across stacks (clean architecture, domain modelling, interface design, testing, performance, and security).

Proficiency in:

• Python (typed, packaged, testable code; clean modules and interfaces)
• AWS Lambda & Step Functions (resilient serverless services)
• PostgreSQL (schema design, indexing/tuning, transactions)
• pytest (unit/integration tests, fixtures/mocks)
• GitHub Actions (build/test/deploy pipelines)
• SQLAlchemy + Alembic (ORM + migrations)
• LocalStack (fast local AWS dev/test)
• Experience working with AWS services (Lambda, Step Functions, S3, EventBridge, CloudWatch, Postgres/RDS) for resilient serverless services
• Infrastructure as Code (SAM/CloudFormation), containerisation, and event-driven patterns.
• Language flexibility While your day-to-day will be Python, you are comfortable learning and contributing in other languages, particularly .NET or Kotlin, as team and platform needs evolve.

Nice to have

• Experience with financial data integrations and standards; familiarity with adviser platforms (e.g., Class, BGL, Xplan).
• Infrastructure as Code (e.g., CDK/Terraform), containerization, or event-driven patterns.
• Observability tools and practices (dashboards, SLOs, alert hygiene).
• Background in security and compliance for financial services.
