What You'll be doing

An opportunity exists to join a dynamic Sexual Assault Service providing quality care to people who have experienced sexual violence.

You will:

• Provide forensic medical examinations and general medical examinations to children, young people, and adult victims of sexual assault. This will include, the provision of prophylactic treatment for pregnancy and STIs, photographic documentation, the provision of medical and psychological follow up and participation in legal proceedings.
• Provide a clinical forensic service that is in line with current peer agreed best practice within NSW.
• Comply with policies and procedures for the service, district, and Ministry of Health.
• Provide accurate documentation in district and Ministry of Health information systems recording the management of health responses and the provision of ongoing care.
• Communicate and collaborate with medical and psychosocial colleagues ensuring quality service provision and continuity of care for clients accessing the service.

• Current medical practitioner, registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and/or other specialist recognition as provided under the Staff Specialists (State) Award. A subspecialty interest in sexual assault, women's health, child protection or domestic violence would be advantageous. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
• Demonstrated current clinical practice of a high standard and ability to adapt clinical practice in accordance with contemporary evidence based best practice.
• Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
• Demonstrated participation in teaching and training at undergraduate and/or post graduate level, including clinical supervision of junior medical staff.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and development, including evidence of participation in continuing medical education/ continuing professional development.
• Demonstrated ability to comply with the service objectives of a public health organization, including the provision of services to the local community, effective utilization of resources, and preparedness to participate in the provision of health services at an LHD level.
• Preparedness to participate in a hospital, service or LHD on-call roster.
• Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with other staff and practitioners and in a multidisciplinary health care team.
