About the Role

This Intake Coordinator position is a vital role, where you'll serve as the first point of contact for clients seeking support. Working two days a week, you will conduct both face-to-face and telephone assessments to triage, evaluate, and support women affected by Domestic, Family, and Sexual Violence. You will play a critical role in guiding clients to appropriate resources and services, building trusting relationships in a trauma-sensitive and culturally respectful manner.

In this role, your work will have a direct impact on the well-being and recovery journey of clients, helping them access safe, suitable, and empowering resources to address their needs. The Intake Coordinator is a vital part of the client intake process, ensuring every individual who reaches out receives compassionate, professional support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough risk assessments, including suicide and violence risk evaluations, and develop action plans to address identified needs.
  • Screen and assess client needs via phone and online inquiries, prioritize cases, and schedule follow-up appointments with clinicians or external services.
  • Identify clients in crisis and coordinate immediate interventions or referrals to ensure timely support.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders, including health, mental health, and social services, to ensure clients receive a coordinated and seamless support experience.
  • Serve as an advocate for clients, fostering positive relationships with other agencies and support services.
  • Maintain up-to-date and confidential records of client assessments, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Participate in team activities, including training, supervision, and development opportunities, to foster a collaborative work environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in health, social sciences, community services, or a related field, with a strong foundation in working with individuals affected by Domestic, Family, and Sexual Violence.
  • At least 5 years' experience in conducting intake assessments, triaging cases, and supporting women who have experienced trauma.
  • Comprehensive understanding of evidence-based practices for Domestic, Family, and Sexual Violence, including crisis intervention and risk management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information empathetically.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant client management software.

Mandatory Requirements

  • National Criminal Record Check.
  • Working with Children Check.
  • Compliance with the Centre's COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.
  • Eligibility to work in Australia.
