Our 70 plus person Environmental Approvals, Closure & Management (EAC&M) Technical Discipline is one of the largest in SLR APAC and includes a broad range of experts across our 24 offices. Reporting to the APAC Technical Discipline Manager, we have a rare senior management opportunity for a Queensland State Leader and have flexibility to be based out of either the Brisbane, Townsville or Mackay offices. This is a newly created role due to continued expansion and success of the team.
We are looking for a leader in Environmental Science with a developed client network, a professional reputation for attracting new talent, and a passion for developing the careers of our valued environmental consultants.
We have a strong pipeline of work and a focus on technical excellence and strong client relationships. We work in a collaborative environment across our EAC&M teams in Brisbane, Mackay, Townsville, Newcastle, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Darwin & Perth and closely with the other 22 Technical Disciplines and 1000+ staff at SLR APAC. The team delivers projects across SLR's market sectors including Mining & Minerals, Built Environment, Infrastructure, Industry and Power.
Responsibilities
In this dynamic role no two days will be the same. On any given day you'll be responsible for:
- Developing, facilitating and enhancing effective relationships with our clients and internal SLR team members, particularly, across other technical disciplines
- You will have 3 Team Leader direct reports and around 30 indirect reports in QLD. As the team grows you may adjust this structure, adding additional team leads etc
- Leading and working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects.
- Working closely with the APAC Technical Discipline Manager on developing and implementing team business plans and strategies
- Working closely with the team leads to drive team and company growth and profitability
- Conducting thorough technical reviews and mentoring/development of Team Leads and senior staff
- Delivering clear and precise, high-quality reports
- Working with our Inhouse Talent Acquisition team on attracting new experts into our growing business.
Experience
Our ideal candidate will have approx. 15 years' + industry experience within a consultancy group, and have:
- Appropriate Environmental Science or Engineering tertiary qualifications. Post grad qualifications will be highly regarded.
- Extensive team management experience and ideally experience managing managers.
- Highly proficient in managing large multidisciplinary projects
- Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivated and ability to work effectively within a team
- Excellent communication skills and technical report writing
- Demonstrated experience working with and successfully mentoring senior staff and managing upwards
- A strong track record in building, nurturing and maintaining ongoing client relationships
- Australia Citizenship or rights to work in Australia
