About the role
Hooker Boats NQ Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled Boat Builder to join our team in Cairns, Queensland. As a Boat Builder, you will play a vital role in the manufacturing and assembly of our high-quality boats. This will be a full-time position after an initial 3 month trial period , offering the opportunity to work in a dynamic and growing company within the manufacturing, transport and logistics industry.
Hooker Boats are also seeking people interested in apprenticeships within boat manufacture. (Experience not required)
What you'll be doing
- Assemble and construct boat components and structures according to design specifications
- Perform precision fibreglass laminating of boats, and other boat-building techniques
- Operate a chopper gun and various power tools and machinery to shape, cut, and fit boat parts
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders
- Collaborate with the team to ensure the efficient and timely completion of boat builds
- Maintain a safe and organised work environment
- Adhere to quality control standards and identify any issues or defects
What we're looking for
- Proven experience as a Fiberglass Boat Builder or similar role within the boat building manufacturing industry
- Strong technical skills and proficiency in boat-building techniques, including fibreglass work, and the use of power tools
- Ability to read and interpret work orders
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Good problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong safety awareness and compliance with workplace health and safety procedures
