The Opportunity

Our Band 1 Brisbane Finance team is currently looking for expressions of interest from Solicitors and Senior Associates who want the best of both worlds.

We are looking for high performing Solicitors and Senior Associates with experience in:

• energy and infrastructure project finance and project development work; or

• corporate, acquisition, structured and real estate finance work.

Our finance team works with high profile clients on some of the most landmark and exciting transactions in the market. Notable transactions in the last 6-12 months include:

• the project financing of the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone project, Australia's largest ever non-LNG greenfield project financing;

• the financing arrangements in connection with the GemLife IPO, the biggest IPO of 2025 so far;

• the project financing of the Wellington BESS project, the first BESS project in the Australian market to be banked with a virtual offtake agreement;

• advising PsiQuantum on its project to build the world's first utility-scale quantum computer;

• the project financing of the Darwin LNG project;

• advising the Australian Renewable Energy Agency on the $2 billion Hydrogen Headstart program;

• advising a global infrastructure fund on the refinancing of its US$4 billion sustainability linked acquisition bridge facilities; and

• advising the borrower on its acquisition financing arrangements, funding the acquisition of forestry assets, under $700 million bank debt facilities and a US Private Placement.

In this role you will work with leading partners Phillip McMahon and Gabby Herron-Cartwright, along with other leading Australian finance specialists in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, as well as our Asian offices, in a collaborative and cohesive national and regional team.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• experience in project finance transactions or general or structured finance transaction experience from a top-tier Australian or international firm;

• strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines;

• excellent attention to detail and technical legal skills;

• a growth mindset;

• a solutions-focused, collaborative and self-motivated approach;

• excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface at all levels and build strong relationships both internally and with clients; and

• a team player mentality, with the ability to develop and work in a fast-paced, intellectually rigorous environment and

• a sense of humour.
