Overview:
  • Shape RMIT's future through transformative placemaking.

About the Role

Reporting to the Executive Director, Property Services Group (PSG), the Strategic Program Director is a pivotal leadership role responsible for shaping, formalising, and delivering major development opportunities across RMIT's $2b property portfolio in Australia and Vietnam.

This is a high-impact role at the intersection of vision and delivery working closely with the ED Property Services, the University Architect, and senior leaders across RMIT to progress high-level concepts into executable programs of work. From major precincts in Melbourne, to transformative campus developments in Vietnam, you will bring clarity, structure, and momentum to projects that will define RMIT's next decade.

Key Priorities

  • Translate RMIT's long-term Master Plan into executable development programs and projects.

  • Engage stakeholders across the University Executive and Council to secure support for bold, future-focused initiatives and progress major city shaping opportunities.

  • Lead with a placemaking mindset, ensuring that developments deliver exceptional outcomes for students, staff, and the broader community.

  • Balance strategic vision with rigorous program management, delivering clarity of scope, timeframes, risks, and financial outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven experience in leading and delivering complex development opportunities or major precinct programs from initiation to completion.

  • A strong track record working in public infrastructure, large mixed-use precincts, health or higher education environments, with the ability to translate vision into executable projects.

  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to balance diverse needs and secure alignment around bold development opportunities.

  • A passion for shaping environments that positively impact students, staff, and communities.

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex briefs, analyse operational and user needs, and convert them into clear project requirements.

  • A self-starting, accountable leadership style, holding yourself and your teams to agreed goals, timeframes, and quality outcomes.

  • Strong financial and program management capability, including experience overseeing multi-million-dollar developments, budgets, and risk frameworks.
