Role Description

Focus: Assisting in establishing and maintaining our robust data infrastructure and supporting future language model fine-tuning.

This is a full-time on-site role based in the Greater Melbourne Area for a Data Engineer Intern. In this role, you will assist in designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines, ensuring seamless Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes. You will collaborate with data scientists and engineers to support data modelling, analytics, and warehousing needs. Additional tasks include identifying and resolving data discrepancies, optimising data workflows, and contributing to the development of innovative AI-driven solutions.

Key Skills

Strong Python programming ability for building data pipelines and automation workflows. Ability to manage different data domains and schemas. Experience or coursework in Data ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes is required. Preferably familiar with LLM fine-tuning workflows (SFT).

Requirements

Proficiency in SQL querying and familiarity with S3-compatible object storage. Experience with Pandas, n8n and crawlers is preferred. Basic understanding of Linux and Docker is beneficial.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in Data Engineering and Data Modelling
  • Knowledge of Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes
  • Understanding of Data Warehousing/Lake concepts
  • Experience in Data Analytics to provide insights and drive decisions
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
