POSITION OVERVIEW
The Metal Fabricator will be responsible for the fabrication and assembly of metal components used in civil construction projects, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards of quality and precision.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
o Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine metal fabrication requirements.
o Cut, shape, and weld metal components using a variety of tools and equipment, including plasma cutters, grinders, and welding machines.
o Fabricate and assemble structural steel components, including beams, columns, and trusses, according to project specifications.
o Measure and align metal components to ensure accuracy and proper fit during assembly.
o Perform quality control checks to verify dimensions, weld integrity, and overall quality of fabricated components.
o Collaborate with other tradespeople, including welders, fitters, and riggers, to complete complex fabrication projects.
o Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
o Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the appropriate supervisor.
o Complete fabrication projects within established timelines and budgetary constraints
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
o Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Metal Fabrication), or equivalent.
o Proven experience working as a Metal Fabricator in the construction or manufacturing industry.
o Proficiency in metal fabrication techniques, including cutting, welding, bending, and shaping.
o Strong understanding of metal properties, fabrication processes, and welding procedures.
o Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications.
o Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve project goals.
o Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
o Current welding certifications (e.g., AS/NZS 1554) preferred but not essential.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
