Perth, Western Australia Ngaanyatjarra Council Group Full time $60,000 - $80,000 per year

About the Ngaanyatjarra Council

Welcome to Ngaanyatjarra Lands, a vibrant tapestry of culture and community nestled within the vast beauty of the Australian desert. Home to approximately 2000 Yarnangu (Ngaanyatjarra people) across 11 unique communities, our council is dedicated to preserving and celebrating our rich heritage spanning over 10,000 years and 250,000 square kilometres.

Established in 1981, the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group (NCG) represents the interests of the Ngaanyatjarra People across the 11 communities in the Central Desert region of Western Australia. Employing in excess of 450 people, NCG provides a wide range of services, including health, utilities, construction, employment, community development, shops, roadhouses, art centres and land services. It is one of the largest and most successful Indigenous organisations in the country.

Our Vision:

Representing the aspirations and interests of our diverse communities, we are dedicated to keeping Yarnangu strong on Country.

The Opportunity:

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of Yarnangu elders and Yarnangu living with disability across the Ngaanyatjarra Lands. You will provide culturally appropriate, person-centred care and support that promotes independence, health, safety, and quality of life.

In this role, you will be part of a dedicated team delivering a broad range of community care services, including meal provision, personal care support, social and cultural engagement, laundry services, and transport assistance. You will also play a key role in monitoring client wellbeing, supporting the development and review of Care Plans, and working closely with other community staff and service providers to ensure holistic and coordinated support.

With a strong focus on cultural respect and community connection, this position is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting Aboriginal people in remote communities, committed to continuous quality improvement, and motivated to contribute to safe, high-quality aged care services that meet the Australian Government's Aged Care Quality Standards.

This position is offered on a FIFO basis, working a 6 weeks on / 6 weeks off roster, providing a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully while maintaining balance outside of work.

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will be a compassionate and skilled aged care professional who is committed to supporting Yarnangu elders and people living with disability. You will bring:

  • A Certificate III in Aged Care (or equivalent qualification), along with demonstrated experience in aged care and/or disability service delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of Aboriginal cultures, health, and social issues, with the ability to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal people living in remote communities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling you to build positive relationships with clients, families, colleagues, and community members.
  • Proven ability to maintain accurate records and utilise computer systems, including data entry into care management software.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • An understanding of key legislative obligations relating to Equal Opportunity, Disability Services, Confidentiality and Privacy, and Work Health and Safety, with a commitment to inclusive and safe practices.
  • Experience working in remote or Aboriginal community care settings (highly regarded).

As this role supports communities across the Ngaanyatjarra Lands, you will be required to travel via light aircraft. A current full manual driver's license is essential, as local travel within communities and between service locations forms part of the position.

What We Offer:

• Purpose-Driven Environment: Experience a work culture that priorities purpose and provides a deep sense of fulfilment, aligning with values that matter to you.

• Flights and Accommodation: Flights and accommodation will be provided to you to allow for a seamless transition into your new role, ensuring that you can focus on making a positive impact from day one.

• Competitive Salary + Salary Sacrificing + 17.5% Annual Leave Loading+ Remote Allowance: Enjoy a competitive salary package complemented by NFP salary sacrificing options.

• Meaningful Work: Contribute to impactful projects and be part of a non-profit organisation where your work truly makes a difference.
