Tour Guide – Hobart-Based Active Day Tours

Tours Tasmania operates active, nature-based day tours showcasing the stunning landscapes of Tasmania from our base in Hobart. We're currently seeking a Tour Guide/s to join our team. One of our long-term, much-loved guides is retiring soon, so we have space to welcome a new team member or two. We operate tours year-round and are looking for someone interested in a steady, ongoing role — you must be available throughout the upcoming summer season.

About the Role
You will be leading small groups on day tours to a variety of locations around Tasmania. You'll be out in the field, sharing your knowledge, keeping guests engaged, and helping them experience the best of Tassie's great outdoors.

What We're Looking For
We are ideally seeking someone with previous guiding experience, though we welcome applicants with relevant life experience and a strong connection to Tasmania's natural environment.

You'll also need to be:

  • Physically fit and comfortable leading walks

  • Outgoing, confident, and personable with strong communication skills

  • Professional, safety-conscious, and adaptable to different guest demographics

  • Knowledgeable about Tasmania's National Parks, walking trails, and natural history

Details

  • Availability: 1–3 days per week (please advise your preference / flexibility with work days)

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday only — no weekends or public holidays

  • Location: All tours are day tours that start and finish in Hobart

Essential Requirements:

  • Light Rigid (LR) Driver's Licence

  • Public Passenger Vehicle Ancillary Certificate

  • Current First Aid Certification

  • Working with Vulnerable People Registration

  • Confidence and experience driving tour vehicles (manual and automatic), including towing trailers

Applicants must be competent and comfortable operating tour vehicles with trailers and possess basic mechanical know-how. Our current fleet includes Toyota Commuter and Toyota Coaster vehicles, along with luggage trailers.
