The Role:
As our Hotel Handyperson, you will be responsible for assisting with general maintenance tasks around the property, including minor repairs throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house, and driving our airport shuttle. This is a full-time role with a roster of Tuesday to Saturday and requires a proactive approach to identifying and addressing maintenance needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house (e.g., basic plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry).
- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance checks to ensure facilities and equipment are operating safely and efficiently.
- Carry out general repairs and maintenance tasks across the hotel.
- Perform general garden maintenance and upkeep.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with hotel policies, safety procedures, and relevant regulations.
- Work collaboratively with the team to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
- Drive the hotel 9-seater courtesy van.
Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in a similar hotel maintenance, handyman, or facilities role preferred.
- Basic skills in carpentry, plumbing, painting, and general maintenance.
- Ability to perform general garden work.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and a problem-solving mindset.
- A positive, can-do attitude and commitment to guest satisfaction.
Other Requirements:
- Current working rights in Australia.
- A current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain one.
- MUST be able to drive our 9-seater courtesy van safely, ensuring guest transport.
- A valid Australian driver's license is required; a clean driving record is a bonus.
Remuneration:
This is a full-time role paid in accordance with the Hospitality Industry (General) Award (HIGA).
