About the Role

FCA are seeking a Boeing Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) to join our team, to support our Townsville operations.

Reporting to the Project Manager (PJM) & Production Manager (PM), the LAME is responsible for the performance and completion of assigned aircraft maintenance tasks during an aircraft repaint at the required times during production. You will also report to the Safety Manager (SM) & Quality Manager (QM) ensuring the supervision and certification of aircraft maintenance activities, acting on behalf of the Engineering department.

  • We are seeking a locally based individual in Townsville, or willing to relocate to Townsville.
  • Full time position Flexible Hours & Roster. (Average ~38 hour weeks)

Key Duties & Responsibilities

All painting activities are conducted by our specialist aircraft refinishing team, however FCA requires an onsite LAME to conduct all basic maintenance functions including but not limited too:

  • Completion of all scheduled and unscheduled Maintenance tasks as required during an aircraft repaint, ensuring aircraft maintenance, maintenance documentation and release certifications (CRS) are completed in accordance with the applicable Instructions for Continuing Airworthiness, Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE), Procedures Manuals and responsible CAMO requirements,
  • Removal & Installation of aircraft components (Inspection Panels, Wiper Blades etc)
  • Configuration of aircraft systems
  • Preservation of Engines & APU
  • Aircraft towing & movements
  • Movement & configuration of flight control systems
  • Balancing of flight control systems
  • Corrosion identification & remediation
  • Dent & Buckle inspections and reporting
  • Aircraft reweighs
  • FOD inspections
  • Ordering replacement Aeronautical product as required
  • Assist and supervise allocated AME's, Apprentices and TA's.
  • Be responsible for the general condition, upkeep and housekeeping of any hangar, workshop or related work areas and vehicles, ensuring all issued Aircraft Parts, Standard Parts or Materials are stored compliantly in accordance with the MOE.
  • Be responsible for personal tool control and accountability of all tool and equipment used in maintenance
  • Represent & interact with the customer representative on engineering production items.
  • Ensure conformance to the Fatigue Management System and compliance with Engineering Work Health and Safety Management System (WHSMS) policy and procedures.
  • Support and promote the Safety Management System (SMS), Quality Management System (QMS) and a Just Culture
  • Perform any other duties as directed by the PJM, PM or QM.
  • May involve travel to other bases if required

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will need to have:

  • Current Aircraft Maintenance Engineering License (Part 66) issued by Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) with Boeing 737 NG CAT B1.1 & C categories.
  • Working knowledge of Part-42, Part-145 and any other relevant regulations.
  • Up to date training requirements (recurrent/continuation training, i.e. 6 in 24)
  • Ability to undergo and pass a pre-employment Drug and Alcohol test (AOD).
  • Ability to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) & pass relevant background security checks.
  • All applicants must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident in order to be considered. Sponsorship is not available.
  • Have excellent communication, negotiation and relationship building skills
  • Trustworthy
  • Experience in aviation technical data software and advanced MS Office skills
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Full Manual Drivers Licence

Preferred Selection Criteria

In addition, to the following attributes are highly advantageous:

  • Additional B1.1 licences in addition to B737, such as A320, Fokker 100, E190
  • EWP High Risk Licence (Boom 11m+)
  • Based in Townsville QLD
  • Hold a current Australian Government Security Clearance or be willing to obtain one
