Due to an internal promotion, we are currently looking for an Arrears officer to work sensitively and collaboratively with our customers to recover outstanding debts and sustain their tenancies.

This will include

  • Liaison with tenants, responding to enquiries
  • Consultation to reach agreement and set up payment plans
  • Ensuring tenants are fully aware of actions being taken in a sensitive manner
  • Review and update existing payment agreements, monitor for compliance
  • Ensure compliance with legislation including the Residential Tenancies Act
  • Represent Housing Plus at NCAT
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting
  • Link tenants with relevant support services

To be successful, you will require:

  • Experience in debt management/debt recovery
  • Experience working in a property management or tenancy background with extensive knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act
  • Extensive experience in preparation of all required documentation and attendance at NCAT
  • High level of analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with others
  • High level communication skills including cultural sensitivity, listening, interviewing, negotiating, resolving conflict and aggression
  • Understanding of the needs of low income households and the ability to respond sensitively to people in crisis

This is a full-time permanent position working 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

The Arrears Officer is classified as a Level 4.1 under the SCHADS Award, which equates to $88,327 gross per annum. This will increase on an annual basis in line with the pay points in the Award. As Housing Plus is a Not for Profit organisation, we have access to excellent salary sacrifice options to increase your take home pay
