Our State Service Centre is the engine room behind the action, supporting over more than 11,000 youth and a further 3500 volunteers across NSW every day. From safety and systems to branding and training, our team helps deliver life-changing experiences for young people and we're growing.
Responsibilities & Duties
Planning & Strategy
- Provide strategic advice and support to the Executive General Manager – Community Engagement & Commercial in setting operational strategy.
- Provide leadership, support, strategic direction, and management to achieve Region goals.
- Ensure the delivery of services and the achievement of service standards expressed in both internal and external agreements.
Business Development
- Using the Region growth and development plan, support membership growth and retention opportunities in consultation and collaboration with Region volunteers.
- Identity opportunities for business improvement and new business opportunities.
- Source relationships with community groups and key decision makers to develop business opportunities.
Operations Management
- Support the Regions and volunteers with the planning, delivery and measurement of leader and member growth and retention initiatives.
- Support the Region properties ensuring optimum utilisation of assets and resources for sustainable growth.
- Drive awareness and actively promote Scouts NSW profile across the region to ensure a positive reputation.
- Support the production, updating, reviewing, and advising of policies, standard operating procedures, and guidelines.
People Management & Performance
- Create and foster a respectful and inclusive team environment and culture.
- Provide ongoing coaching and support to the team with consistent delivery of agreed outcomes and availability of appropriate development opportunities to build employee/volunteer capability to their fullest potential.
- Identify staff learning and development needs and execute appropriate action.
Stakeholder Management (Leaders, Community & Members)
- Maintain and promote the external profile of Scouts NSW through communication and continued engagement with the broader community and through partnerships to support the identification of new community programs.
- Establish and maintain links with appropriate community groups relevant to the activities of the Regions.
- Attend Regional events and relevant committee meetings
Financial Management & Reporting
- Monitor financial metrics for regions to evaluate and report on performance against objectives and where relevant, creating or implementing solutions to address underperformance.
- Develop Region budgets in conjunction with the Region Volunteer Team, monitor results and approve expenditure within delegations.
- Work in conjunction with the Grants Manager in sourcing grant opportunities.
Compliance, Safety & Risk Management
- Ensure effective management practices are implemented to mitigate risk and ensure the health and of workers, clients, and visitors.
- Ensure consultation practices are in place to enable workers to be involved in risk management planning, incident reporting and safe work practice activities to improve work, health, and safety.
- Implement and follow risk management, safeguarding and assurance, and reporting procedures.
- Promote and participate in Safeguarding, to maintain a safe working environment, and ensure that any applicable safeguarding policy or practices are always adhered to.
Qualification, Training & Experience
Tertiary Qualification in Business, Facility Management, Community Services or Administration (desirable).
5+ years' experience in a senior operational leadership position preferably in a for purpose /NFP environment with volunteers.
- Proven experience in successfully managing and monitoring multi-site operations.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively developing and maintaining strategic relationships with stakeholders.
- Experience in financial management including developing and managing budgets.
- Experience in managing relationships at various levels with a variety of stakeholders, resolving disputes and differences, identifying, assessing, and controlling issues, incidents, problems, and complaint resolution.
