Empirical Solutions is seeking an experienced C4I Engineer to provide engineering assurance and specialist advice in the areas of Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I). Based in Adelaide or Canberra, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to critical national capability by delivering robust C4I integration, risk management, and assurance outcomes.

This position is suited to professionals who bring strong engineering expertise, excellent communication skills, and a passion for working in high-performing Defence and national security environments.

What You'll Be Doing
As a C4I Engineer, you will:

• Provide expert engineering advice and support across C4I domains
• Develop detailed reports and artefacts to guide engineering decisions, including requirements validation and assurance activities
• Conduct reviews of supplier deliverables and contribute to the development of functional and technical baselines
• Identify and manage risks, issues, and opportunities within the C4I domain, implementing mitigation actions where required
• Participate in technical reviews, workshops, and working groups to support decision-making and collaboration
• Deliver accurate technical documentation and engineering assurance outputs
• Liaise with stakeholders, both internal and external, to provide clarity and drive project outcomes

What We're Looking For
We welcome applications from professionals who bring:

• Tertiary qualifications in engineering or a related technical discipline
• Proven experience in engineering roles within Defence or other complex technical environments
• At least 5 years' experience in the C4I domain
• Familiarity with modern distributed network architectures
• Strong communication and report writing skills
• Ability to provide structured assurance and specialist advice
• Current NV1 security clearance (mandatory; ability to upgrade to NV2 desirable)

Desirable Qualifications & Experience
You'll be highly regarded if you also bring:

• Experience in Defence acquisition or sustainment projects
• Familiarity with Defence documentation and assurance frameworks
• Demonstrated ability to integrate C4I capability across multi-disciplinary environments

Additional Requirements
Interstate travel may be required

Must meet ITAR/US Export Technology Control requirements
