The Old Bar Tavern has been a favourite for Old Bar residents since it was first established in 1988.

​​The fantastic team of dedicated professionals help create a unique and welcoming atmosphere which makes it the place to be on the mid-north coast.

We are looking for a qualified chef to join our kitchen team.

Working with the Head Chef you will

  • Set up the kitchen with cooking utensils and equipment, like knives, pans and kitchen scales
  • Study each recipe and gather all necessary ingredients
  • Cook food in a timely manner
  • Delegate tasks to kitchen staff
  • Inform wait staff about daily specials
  • Ensure appealing plate presentation
  • Supervise cooks and assist as needed
  • Slightly modify recipes to meet customers' needs and requests (e.g. reduce salt, remove dairy)
  • Monitor food stock and place orders
  • Check freshness of food and discard out-of-date items
  • Experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area

About you

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role

What we offer

This role is integral for our venue and has the potential to lead to further career growth with one of Australia's most energetic regional hospitality groups.

We offer a competitive salary package between $75,000 and $80,000 plus superannuation.
