We are now seeking an experienced HSEQ Manager to lead our safety function and ensure the successful implementation of our health, safety, environmental, and quality strategy across the business.
As HSEQ Manager, you will play a critical role in driving safety best practices, ensuring compliance with legislation, and leading the continuous improvement of HSEQ systems across our works sites throughout Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the HSEQ group function: provide strategic direction, leadership and hands on support to the HSEQ function.
- Implement HSEQ Strategy: Execute the HSEQ strategy as directed by the Executive Leadership Team (OLT), ensuring alignment with business goals and compliance with evolving regulations and industry best practices.
- Ensure Compliance with Legislation: Lead efforts to ensure full compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality legislation across all sites. Stay ahead of regulatory changes and incorporate them into business operations.
- Lead Multi-Site Compliance & Audits: Oversee HSEQ compliance across all project sites, driving adherence to internal procedures and external regulatory requirements. Manage audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
- Lead High-Impact Incident Investigations: Direct investigations into significant incidents, applying a structured methodology to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and ensure lessons learned are integrated across the organisation.
- Strategic Reporting & Analysis: Provide executive-level reporting on HSEQ performance, including trend analysis, compliance status, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Develop & Implement HSEQ Training: Spearhead the development and deployment of targeted HSEQ training programs, ensuring all team members and subcontractors are adequately trained and compliant with current safety standards.
- Promote Safety Culture: Foster a safety-first culture across the business by promoting accountability, ownership, and proactive safety behaviours across all teams.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary HSEQ contact for clients, regulatory bodies, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment on safety expectations and regulatory compliance.
- Operational Planning: Support operational planning for HSEQ, including audit schedules, resource allocation, and workload management to ensure business objectives are met.
About You and What You Bring
- Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in Work Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or a related discipline.
- Experience: Proven experience in an HSEQ Manager or senior advisory role within civil construction, infrastructure, or high-risk industries.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of WHS legislation, environmental compliance, and quality standards. Strong ability to ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and national regulations.
- Leadership: Strong leadership capabilities with a demonstrated ability to drive a safety-first culture, ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements across multiple sites.
- Incident Management: Extensive experience leading high-level incident investigations, implementing corrective actions, and driving continuous improvements across operational safety processes.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior leadership, clients, and teams at all levels.
- Organisational Skills: High attention to detail, proven ability to manage time-sensitive audits, compliance activities, and multi-site coordination.
Additional Qualifications (Desirable):
- Training & Assessing and/or Internal Auditing qualifications.
- Experience implementing strategic HSEQ initiatives.
Licenses:
- A valid C-Class driver's license and flexibility to travel between sites as required.
