About the roleWe are delighted to announce that an opportunity exists for a Process Technician role at our flagship Yarwun manufacturing site located in Gladstone, Queensland.
Orica Yarwun manufactures nitric acid, ammonium nitrate and sodium cyanide products which are used in mining, infrastructure, agriculture, and water industries locally, nationally and internationally. Orica has operated at Yarwun for over 30 years and is committed to the health and safety of employees and minimising the impact of our manufacturing activities on the community and the environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and reliable operation of manufacturing assets within the Sodium Cyanide and Ammonium Nitrates Complex.
The role is part of a shift team working on a 12-hour rotating roster, on a shift pattern working on 2 day shifts, 2night shifts then 6 days off. Additional hours are required to be worked to meet business and training requirements.
This role will be offered a 2-year contract.
What you will be doing- Ensuring work practices and environment comply with the safety, health and environment standards;
- Conduct routine inspections, analyse our manufactured products, and engage in problem solving;
- Engage in start-up, continuous operation, and shutdown of plant equipment across the Cyanide and Nitrates Complex including completion of plant logs, inspections, and handover with incoming shift.
- Trade qualification in Mechanical or Electrical/Instrumentation;
- Continuous manufacturing experience, preferably in a Major Hazard Facility, petrochemical or chemicalmanufacturing;
- Competent troubleshooting skills in an operational environment;
- Well-developed numerical, analytical and systems skills.
