About The Role - Acute Stroke Care Coordinator
Step into a pivotal leadership role as the Acute Stroke Care Coordinator within the renowned Stroke Services at John Hunter Hospital – an internationally recognised Comprehensive Stroke Centre. In this specialised position, you will lead the coordination of stroke care across the full continuum - from hyperacute intervention and acute management to secondary prevention and research-driven care.

Working closely with our expert multidisciplinary stroke team and acute stroke research unit, you will support the enrolment of patients in innovative clinical trials and foster a strong research culture within the service.

Your Role Will Be Instrumental In

  • Driving adherence to national stroke clinical guidelines and Stroke Foundation audit indicators.
  • Leading quality improvement projects that directly impact patient outcomes.
  • Facilitating the recruitment of patients into clinical trials, increasing access to new therapies to the Newcastle community
  • Providing education and mentorship to junior staff, patients, and families.
  • Monitoring and analysing stroke data to inform clinical excellence.
  • Supporting acute stroke reviews and collaborating closely with the stroke consultant.

This permanent part-time opportunity (3 days per week, ideally continuous, 8-hour shifts) offers a stable, travel-free role within a highly supportive team environment.

Requirements
Our successful candidate will possess the following:

Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA with relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in Stroke/Neurology of their specified post-graduate qualification, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
