This role is classified as Level 2 (annual base salary $68, 239 - $89, 139) under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement. The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework.

The Department
SBS is the most multilingual public broadcaster in the world. With 60 plus language services, we deliver news, information and entertainment and inspire social cohesion by connecting communities through multilingual conversations, helping everyone feel at home in Australia.
The Role
With a sound understanding of the Kirundi-speaking community in Australia and its cultural sensitivities, as a producer, you will contribute to fostering audience engagement on-air and online. Prior experience in journalism or broadcasting will be highly regarded.
This is a part-time position, located in either our Sydney or Melbourne studios, offering 8 hours per week minimum.
About you
- The ability to research, write, produce, translate and present audio content (including news, current affairs and community stories) on radio and/or online platforms.
- Proficiency in speaking and typing in Kirundi as well as English. Also, you will be comfortable participating in a language assessment task as part of our interview process.
- Demonstrated professional experience using Facebook, Twitter and Instagram would be an advantage.
The successful candidate is required to undertake shift work Monday to Friday during business hours. Only residents based in Australia with working rights are eligible to apply.
