About Our Roles
Operations is a dynamic, multi-faceted division that partners with all areas of the firm to deliver advisory, sales and trading and asset management capabilities to clients around the world. Alongside this vital service delivery role, Operations provides essential risk management and control, preserving and enhancing the firm's assets and its reputation. Operations span all product lines and markets, serving as internal business partners who develop the processes and controls, and help to specify the systems that deliver accuracy, timeliness and integrity to our business.

GBM Public Operations has a dynamic environment where you will be required to be flexible and able to adapt quickly to changes in the markets and to assess requests from the business. You will receive all the requisite market, systems and technical training required to develop your existing skill base and maximize your value to the enthusiastic and motivated team that you will be joining. As a front-to-back market-aligned GBM Public Operations analyst, you will develop a thorough understanding of the markets themselves and the settlement process.

Sydney Local Market Ops, comprises of Middle Office, Trade Support and Settlements, provides essential risk management and control, as well as business engagement and client services covering multiple asset classes including ASX and NZX equities, fixed income, listed derivatives, and FX.

How You Will Fulfill Your Potential

• Trade allocation, matching and confirmation;
• Settlements management, including prematching, inventory management and fail investigations
• Assess market changes and present the impacts, recommendations to the business and Operations Management;
• Identify opportunities for improvements of settlement efficiency & control;
• Understand internal and external regulations;
• Analyze and resolve exceptions;
• Evaluate and escalate risk items to management and the business;
• Participation in strategic and tactical projects with other Operations areas, IT & management;
• Respond to varied queries from the business and internal clients;
• Protect the Firm and its clients from market penalties associated with Asset Servicing events and trading;
• Managing ECM (Equity Capital Market) flow in the assistance of the Syndicate Execution desk

Basic Qualifications
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• General knowledge of cash equity/fixed income/Derivative products
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – essential for interacting at all levels, across business disciplines and regions
• Self-motivated, driven and strong team player
• Strong technical / analytical / problem solving skills
• Time management and ability to multi-task in a high pressure environment;
• Accuracy and attention to detail essential
• Competency with MS Suite, especially Excel, automation and the ability to learn multiple programs quickly
