About the role

Embrace Community Care is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team on a casual basis in Melbourne – Ballarat, VIC 3350. As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing quality care and support to individuals with diverse needs, empowering them to live independently and achieve their personal goals.

What you'll be doing

  • Assisting clients with their daily living activities, such as personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks
  • Providing social and emotional support, engaging clients in recreational and leisure activities
  • Advocating for clients' rights and ensuring their safety and wellbeing
  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to develop and implement individualised support plans
  • Maintaining accurate client records and documentation
  • Adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and legislative requirements

What we're looking for

  • Relevant experience in the aged care or disability support sector, or a demonstrated passion for working with people with diverse needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and foster positive relationships with clients
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to promoting the independence and wellbeing of clients
  • A current First Aid certificate and a valid driver's license
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and industry standards (desirable)
