As a Motor Mechanic (General), you will be responsible for maintaining, testing, and repairing petrol engines and mechanical components of light motor vehicles—including systems such as transmissions, suspension, steering, and brakes. 2. Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Detect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines and vehicle parts.
  • Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other components; inspect and check parts.
  • Repair or replace worn or defective parts; reassemble mechanical components using service manuals as needed.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance (oil changes, lubrication, engine tune-ups) to ensure smooth operation and regulatory compliance.
  • Reassemble engines and components post-repair.
  • Test and adjust repaired mechanical parts to ensure proper performance.
  • Use computer-assisted diagnostics and testing tools.
  • Inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates or outline required corrections for roadworthiness.
  • Respond to vehicle breakdown service calls when necessary.
