About the Role
Join Swinburne University of Technology on a fully funded 3-year PhD project developing next-generation lightweight, bio-inspired structural components with applications in construction and transport.
We're looking for a motivated researcher with a degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, hands-on experience in material or structural testing, and strong knowledge of mechanics of materials. Skills in simulation, theoretical analysis, technical reporting, and clear communication will help you thrive in our collaborative team environment.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- Hands-on experience with experimental testing of materials and structures
- A strong understanding of how materials behave under stress, strain, and deformation
- Skills in computer modelling and simulation of structural components
- The ability to carry out theoretical analysis of deformation mechanisms
- Experience preparing clear and detailed technical reports
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A collaborative approach, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team
Qualifications
Masters degree or Bachelor (Honour) degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering
