The Schools Coordinator will oversee the schools swimming lessons during their rostered shift. They are ultimately responsible for the experience of all school swim students and school representatives and have the authority to make the necessary decisions to ensure the highest levels of safety and customer experience are maintained at all times.

The Schools Coordinator will be proactive in providing visible leadership and direction to all swim teachers, ensuring that their extensive knowledge is utilised to ensure pool programming is operating efficiently and with the highest possible level of service. They will work relentlessly to engage with the schools regularly and maximise sales and retention opportunities.

This position will work relentlessly to implement the Aligned Leisure purpose of connecting to thrive and win, values of AWARE, DISCIPLINED, RELENTLESS and UNITED, and associated behaviours throughout the entire team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Daily operation of the school swim program

  2. Provide visible leadership to all swim teachers by being present on pool deck when required.

  3. Proactively work with Swim School Teachers to minimise any disruptions that may cause classes to be interrupted.

  4. Ensure Swim Teachers on duty are following OH&S guidelines particularly in relation to Learn to Swim equipment on pool deck.

  5. Maintain the integrity of the swim school database and lesson bookings at all times

  6. Ensure that the facility is set up for school programs and carnivals, liaising with other staff as required.

  7. Roster suitable levels of staff to meet the requirements of the schools

  8. Ensure all lessons start and end on time.

  9. Liaise with the Duty Captain on all maintenance matters.

  10. Ensure all reports, checklists and procedures are completed and signed off by the Centre Manager or Duty Captain.

  11. School acquisition and retention

  12. Take a proactive approach to customer engagement, recognising, welcoming and educating new schools.

  13. Maximise new school acquisition.

  14. Ensure school representatives and students receive regular feedback and students are regularly assessed against the level criteria.

  15. Manage student progression and class changes.

  16. Authority to solve customer issues on the spot, without the need to seek approval from a member of the management team.

  17. Ensure all complaints are followed up in a timely manner.

  18. Actively seek customer feedback on service levels.

  19. High calibre of swim teaching

  20. Establish and maintain strong relationships with all schools and students.

  21. Create a fun, welcoming and safe environment.

  22. Deliver high quality swimming lessons using the Swim and Survive program.

  23. Implement set lesson plans.

  24. Work on set level criteria each week, work with the Swim Teachers to record student's growth and reporting students ready for assessment.

  25. Outstanding service delivery to all customers and stakeholders

The Schools Coordinator will also undertake Swim Captain/Instructor shifts and must be available to work a mixture of early morning, daytime, evening and weekend hours. The Schools Coordinator may from time to time be required to undertake other tasks as directed by the Swim Lead.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Relevant industry experience

  2. Swimming and Water Safety Teacher Qualification

  3. Teacher of Infants and Toddler Qualification (Desirable)

  4. The position will be subject to relevant pre-employment checks and must maintain a current working with children check

  5. The successful applicant must hold or be willing to attain CPR qualifications
