The Role
The Hunter Class Frigate Project (SEA5000) is seeking a self-motivated and high performing individual to join the Cost Estimation team. The successful candidate will challenge themselves in a fast paced environment, and will contribute to Australian Continuous Naval Shipbuilding.
The roles and responsibilities of this position include:
- Undertake independent complex cost analysis through Contract Change Proposals;
- Interpret and implement cost estimation policy, processes, methods, tools, training and take the initiative to provide feedback and recommendations;
- Assurance activities, ensuring compliance with legislation and regulatory policies and processes;
- Deliver cost related documentation including templates, reports, submissions, plans, strategies and risk;
- Manage cost data analysis and assurance activities, workflows and performance to achieve value-added results;
- Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders and respond to complex enquiries about cost related issues; and
- Understand Defence strategic objectives and initiatives, and support the program review of whole of life cycle costs, identifying interdependencies, relationships and risks.
About our Team
The Hunter Class Frigate (HCF) will be one of the most advanced warships in the world with cutting edge technology and capabilities. As Australia's largest shipbuilding project, HCF provides the foundation for Continuous Naval Shipbuilding in Australia. We are working with experts from the UK, USA, Canada and Europe to provide six frigates optimised for anti-submarine warfare to the Royal Australian Navy. The frigates are being constructed at the Osborne Naval Shipyard, South Australia utilising the latest production technologies.
You will have access to generous working conditions as an Australian Public Servant in Defence. You will be supported in balancing work life with family and other priorities, with a variety of flexible working arrangements available. Information on Defence employees' working conditions, including an attractive remuneration package with a generous superannuation contribution (15.4%), can be sourced from the Defence Enterprise Agreement.
Our Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone with initiative, strong organisational skills, and who can work under pressure with competing priorities. The successful candidate will have relevant cost analysis or financial analysis experience. They will be accountable to ensure they have knowledge of and are compliant with legislative frameworks, Government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
