South Burnett CTC Inc (CTC) is a not-for-profit community organisation dedicated to providing support to disadvantaged individuals across various demographics. Our services encompass Foster Care, Residential Care, Youth & Family Services, Domestic and Family Violence Services, Disability Services, and the Gumnut Place Social Enterprise. We operate throughout the South Burnett area, with teams in Kingaroy, Wondai, Nanango, and Murgon.
Our Youth Connector Program, delivered in partnership with Laurel Place, aims to support children and young people aged 10 to 17 who exhibit sexually reactive behaviours or who have experienced sexual abuse. This collaborative initiative allows us to provide trauma-informed counselling and support to those in need.
Position OverviewThe Youth Worker will play a critical role in identifying and accepting referrals for children and young people requiring counselling related to sexually reactive behaviours and abuse. The position involves facilitating access to specialised counselling services, advocating for families, and coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure comprehensive support for young people.
The Youth Worker will work closely with the Youth Services Team Leader and may also cover other youth roles as needed.
Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate is someone who enjoys engaging and supporting young people whilst driving the South Burnett region and possess qualifications and experience relevant to supporting young people with complex needs, along with established networks within the community service sector.
- Strong understanding of personal and professional boundaries
- Commitment to confidentiality and privacy of stakeholders
- Relevant qualifications, including First Aid and CPR certificates
- Current Queensland driver's licence and ability to maintain it without suspension
Additionally, candidates must hold a Working with Children Blue Card and undergo various screening checks to ensure compliance with legislative requirements. Cultural awareness and sensitivity to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are essential to effectively engage with diverse youth populations.
Salary & BenefitsThe position offers a competitive salary based on qualifications and experience, with rates starting at $34.58 per hour for Level 2 workers, and $38.65 for Level 3 workers. Salary packaging options are also available.
