About the Role
Responsibilities
The MRF Supervisor responsible for supervising and ensuring efficient plant operations, optimising productivity, and maintaining a safe working environment. This role requires strong leadership and the ability to manage a fast-paced recycling environment. This includes:
- Supervise and coordinate teams to maintain workflow and quality control.
- Oversee recycling transfer and processing tasks, including operation of transfer vehicles, conveyors, screens, and balers.
- Oversee daily production of recycled commodity products in the specified quantity and quality, and for achieving optimal utilisation of plant and machinery.
- Provide on-the-job training for employees on safety, equipment use, and work procedures.
- Monitor compliance with EPA licence requirements.

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.
About You
To be successful in the position, you will have:
- Certificate IV qualification in waste management, environmental technology, civil construction, mechanical/electrical trades, and/or other related and equivalent qualifications.
- Recognised RTO certification required.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in the recycling or resource recovery sector, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or equivalent leadership role within a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), Recycling Facility or similar operational environment.
- Current Class C Driver's Licence
- Current NSW General Construction induction card (white card)
- LF Forklift licence required or within first 3 months of employment.
- Working at Heights training required or within first 3 months of employment
- Proof of right to work in Australia

- Team leadership across a 7-day roster - Please describe how you supervised a team of ~10-20 operators across a Monday-Sunday roster. How did you roster for skills/fatigue, coach low performers, maintain competency, and sustain safe, productive shifts?
- Safety & EPL compliance - Please describe a time you led WHS risk controls and kept operations compliant (e.g., EPL/licence, incident response, audits). What did you do, what records did you keep, and what was the outcome?
- Throughput, availability & purity - Please give one example where you lifted line performance (availability and commodity purity) without sacrificing safety. What diagnostics did you use, what changes did you make (people/process/maintenance), and what were the before/after metrics?
- Systems, budget discipline & customer interface - Please describe how you used plant/SCADA/waste tracking data and routine reporting to drive decisions, control costs within your delegation, and manage product quality with customers (incl. handling a spec/quality dispute). What KPIs and savings did you achieve?
