The Opportunity
As a Roadworks Operator, you will play an important role in supporting safe and efficient roadworks across South Australia. Working alongside the Roadworks Coordinator, you will investigate roadworks and compliance issues, assess applications, and provide practical solutions under the Act.
You will analyse data, identify trends, and contribute to improving roadwork processes. The role also involves training users on the roadworks portal, administering invoices, and supporting programs such as abandoned vehicle management. Your knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures will help ensure compliance and keep the road network operating smoothly.

You are a proactive and dependable team member who communicates clearly and respectfully, responding to customer needs with discretion and professionalism. You take initiative, use sound judgement, and can plan and prioritise tasks effectively, both independently and as part of a team. With a practical understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and government programs, you contribute confidently to delivering outcomes and supporting your team's objectives.
Licenses
A current Driver Licence is Essential.
Special Conditions
- A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
- A Working With Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, which must be renewed every five years before expiry.
- Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.
Tenure of Vacancy
Two temporary appointments are available:
- One position for up to 12 months
- One position for up to six (6) months
Remuneration
ASO3 - $67,589 to $72,033 pa + Superannuation.
