We're growing our team at Marble & Grain, Avenue Hotel's premium European Steakhouse and bar. Known for our paddock-to-plate philosophy, we bring a modern approach to the classic steakhouse experience – and we're looking for passionate Commis Chefs to join us.

As part of Capital Hotels, Avenue Hotel offers 213 stylish rooms and apartments, a vibrant restaurant and bar, and premium function spaces – all in the heart of Canberra.

About you

We're looking for someone who brings enthusiasm, skill, and professionalism to every service. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience working in a commercial kitchen
  • The ability to follow instructions effectively and learn quickly
  • Excellent communication skills and impeccable presentation
  • The ability to build and maintain positive working relationships
  • A team-oriented approach with a positive and adaptable attitude
  • A solid understanding of Food Safety and Workplace Health & Safety (OH&S) standards
  • Foundation knife skills and knowledge of basic cookery terms and techniques
  • A strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency
  • Exceptional time management during preparation and service
  • A calm, composed demeanour under pressure
  • A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent experience)
