ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Cyber Security Governance Specialist to strengthen our organisation's security posture and ensure compliance with national frameworks and policies. This role will be central to assessing, guiding, and embedding secure practices across technology environments while providing expert advice on cyber risk management and assurance.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Apply in-depth knowledge of the Information Security Manual (ISM) to support compliance and uplift cyber maturity.
  • Implement and assess against the Essential Eight strategies, ensuring resilience against evolving threats.
  • Interpret and apply the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) in both governance and operational contexts.
  • Conduct system control reviews to confirm alignment with government, departmental, and industry cyber standards.
  • Support cyber operations through exposure to SIEM tools, vulnerability management processes, and threat detection platforms.
  • Contribute to security architecture discussions, with awareness of modern approaches such as Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA).
  • Draft and maintain security configuration policies for critical security appliances.
  • Participate in and advise on penetration testing activities, reporting on findings and recommending remediations.
  • Promote and champion secure-by-design principles across new projects and initiatives.

  • Strong background in cyber governance, assurance, and compliance.
  • Experience engaging with government frameworks and applying them in complex environments.
  • Knowledge of technical and architectural security practices with the ability to bridge governance and operations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, able to provide practical, risk-based advice.
