About the role

We're seeking an experienced Communications Consultant to join our Brisbane team in a full-time capacity. The successful candidate will have 8+ years' experience in government, media, corporate affairs, or a peak body, who brings both strategic insight and practical knowledge to complex communications challenges.

You'll play a key role in supporting our clients across government, not-for-profit and corporate sectors, providing strategic and integrated communications solutions. This includes strategy development and implementation, issues management, government relations, organisational reviews, media relations, community and stakeholder engagement, market and social research and digital communications.

We are looking for someone who thrives on delivering high-quality outcomes in dynamic environments – someone with strong analytical and interpersonal skills, who brings professionalism, adaptability and a good sense of humour to their work.

We are looking for a high-performing consultant who:

• Has a strong understanding of the political, policy development, communications and media landscape
• Brings established networks across Queensland Government and the ability to further strengthen connections across government, bureaucracy and media
• Is collaborative and adaptable, with a can-do attitude and strong interpersonal skills
• Is curious and proactive, identifying innovative and practical ways to progress client projects
• Remains calm under pressure, balancing multiple priorities with professionalism
• Can lead projects independently as well as work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
• Is committed to ongoing professional growth and development.

Typical practical skills and experience should include:

• 8+ years' experience in corporate communications, public affairs or government relations within government, a peak body, media organisation, or corporate function.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Politics or Social Science
• Strong networks and knowledge of Queensland Government and media environments.
• Strong writing capabilities – the confidence and ability to write clearly and succinctly
• Strong analytical skills to absorb complex and technical information and turning it into clear and concise information
• Excellent organisation skills – capable of setting up and adhering to your own system of structuring your work day, prioritising tasks, methodically completing regular tasks and proactive working on implementation of communications plans
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and listening skills
• A positive, team-oriented attitude with a genuine interest in politics, communications, current affairs, and government.
