The primary purpose of this role is the construction of bus frames and other metal frames from lengths of steel and steel sheeting.

· Produce work of high quality and work in a safe manner

· ability to read and interpret engineer's drawings

· use safe work procedures when using electrical workshop equipment and hand-held tools

· proficient in MIG and flux core welding

Tasks Include:

· Marks off and fabricates structural steel and other metal stock to make or repair metal products and structures such as boilers and pressure vessels

· studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements

· selecting, cleaning and preparing metal stock

· cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines

· shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering

· aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments

· joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting

· examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision

· various sheeting materials are measured, cut, folded and prepared for cladding of bus frame

· modifying wheelbase length on chassis to suit body type,

· fabricating Chassis Cross Members and centre Hanger for Drive Shafts

· cut, prepare and fit wooden floorboards

· extend/shorten chassis air lines and wiring

Any other reasonable duties as requested by the manager, general manager or director.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $38.00 – $39.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 per week
